The Normativity of Global Ordering Practices

Abstract This article integrates normative theoretical analysis into accounts of international order by connecting the study practice to debates about nature and moral purpose states’ social association. Combining English School theory with insights from scholarship on colonialism, race, empire, we conceptualize as a dynamic, contested, but often stable durable, set patterns show how they ethical reference points privilege certain claims over others in relation legitimate agency morally appropriate conduct.
